MAKE A DATE WITH MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM

Roald Dahl is the world’s no. 1 storyteller. Without him there’d be no whizzpoppers, no Miss Trunchbull and not a single Oompa-Loompa. So with all this, and much more, it’s no wonder there’s a special day dedicated just to him. The official Roald Dahl Day takes place every year on 13th September, his birthday! If you check your diary, you may notice in 2013 this falls on Friday 13th – the perfect excuse for some Mischief and Mayhem!

To celebrate and learn more about the great man, why not tune into the Puffin Virtually Live: Roald Dahl Day, a live interactive webcast?

What’s an interactive webcast we hear you cry? Well, it’s pretty simple. From 14:00–14:45 BST we’ll be broadcasting a live show all about Roald Dahl – shown on the Puffin Virtually Live website where you can watch along, LIVE (did we mention that already?)

Hosted by Michael Rosen, this year’s show will be bigger and better than EVER before. Expect an incredible line-up, with guest appearances from both the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Matilda musicals, plus a few tricky surprises too!

You’ll be joining schools all over the world – and, because it’s live, children can send in their questions for the show’s stars. You can submit these when you register or even during the show. It’s a great way to engage your class, who will be eager to see if they’re the lucky ones who are picked!

To help prepare, you can also download a curriculum-linked Mischief and Mayhem themed teachers’ pack. Lessons cover a range of topics, from The Witches to citizenship to food technology to Matilda’s telepathy to playwriting to trickery and beyond.

There are all sorts of other ways you can celebrate Roald Dahl Day, from wearing yellow, his favourite colour, to subtly dropping a little gobblefunk into conversation. Or you could be even more daring and play a few flushbunking tricks. Whatever you do, don’t miss Puffin Virtually Live on Friday 13th September at 14:00 BST. Let the mayhem begin . . .
