The Association for Science Education (ASE) held its annual conference in January.
Taking place over the course of 5th–8th January, the event ensured that any teacher, technician or adviser with an interest in science education had a good reason to make it back from the Christmas holidays on time. Highlights of the event included a presentation by Sir David Attenborough entitled ‘The Natural Curriculum’ which suggested ideas for inspiring children with nature.
“For me, education is what life is about,” Attenborough said during his speech. “Primary and secondary school teachers are the most important people in our society. In particular, primary school teachers, because it is there that the seed is planted.”
Over 3000 people attended the conference, which took place at the University of Reading. Next year’s event will take place in Liverpool. Visit ase.org.uk for more details.
