GREAT SCIENCE ACTIVITIES FOR KS2
Techniquest’s centre in Cardiff Bay provides a unique experience geared towards supporting teachers and inspiring pupils in science, technology, engineering and maths.
The exhibition has are more than 120 hands-on exhibits, which have been carefully designed to facilitate independent, interactive learning.
Pupils will think they are merely playing, but they will in fact be exploring, investigating, experimenting and discovering science for themselves, all whilst having a thoroughly enjoyable time.
Your visit
Techniquest was one of the first places in the UK to gain the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
School visits are specifically organised so teachers can focus on the learning experience.
Areas can be reserved for children to have a packed lunch or Cafe TQ serves drinks, snacks and hot or cold food.
Every visiting school group can also see a show or presentation in the Science Theatre or Planetarium,
or take part in a workshop in the Laboratory (subject to availability).

Science Theatre
Spectacular demonstrations help bring science to life in a range of shows for KS2 pupils. Each show supports the KS2 Curriculum for Wales.
After a lively presentation in the Science Theatre, lasting around 30 minutes, pupils take what they’ve learnt out onto the main exhibition floor for a session of self-directed learning and discovery.
The pupils are armed with a series of key words and phrases about the topic, to help them decide which of the 120 interactive exhibits they should explore first.
Teachers use cameras to record the pupils’ activities, and use the images to help the pupils reflect on their visit during follow-up lessons back in school. Visits are supported by written material for teachers.
All Techniquest’s Science Theatre shows encourage pupils to learn through investigation, discussion and collaboration.
