Techniquest provides a unique experience in supporting teachers in their teaching of numeracy and literacy.

GREAT SCIENCE ACTIVITIES FOR KS2

A broad and dynamic science and maths programme is offered through the Cardiff Bay centre and through Outreach at your school.
At Techniquest in Cardiff Bay pupils will be inspired by more than 120 hands-on exhibits, which have been carefully designed to facilitate child-centred learning and investigation.

Pupils will think they are merely playing, but they will in fact be exploring, investigating, experimenting and discovering science for themselves. Teachers receive resource materials to help them extend the learning back in the classroom.

Your visit

Techniquest was one of the first places in the UK to gain the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
School visits are specifically organised so teachers can focus on the learning experience.
Areas can be reserved for children to have a packed lunch or Cafe TQ serves drinks, snacks and hot or cold food.
Every visiting school group can also see a show or presentation in the Science Theatre or Planetarium,
or take part in a workshop in the Laboratory (subject to availability).

For further information visit www.techniquest.org/education or call our bookings line on 029 20 475 476.

Shows

All KS2 programmes support the teaching of the National Curriculum for Wales, encouraging skills development and learning through investigation, discussion and collaboration.

After a lively 30 minute presentation in the Science Theatre or Planetarium, pupils take what they have learned on the exhibition floor for a session of self-directed learning and discovery.  Pupils are armed with a series of key words and phrases that link the topics of their show.

Teachers are provided with digital cameras to record their pupils’ experiences.

Techniquest download these images on to a memory stick – which includes resource materials to extend the learning experience back in the classroom.
