Get primary kids moving with fun, free and easy-to-use videos from BBC Teach
”…just watching the sheer enjoyment in your class as they jump and sing or even the giggles as you join in, is sometimes all you need to remind you why you are a teacher. [Super Movers] brings a little bit of fun back into your day…”
Ms Ritchie, Linn Primary School, Northern Ireland
Super Movers launched in January 2018 with over 50 short, active learning videos for primary age children. Since then, the site has grown to feature a full set of Times Tables films in both English and Welsh as well as a suite of ‘Just for Fun’ videos.
The Premier League and the BBC jointly run the project with the aim of increasing the amount of physical activity children do, both at school and at home.
With plenty of Super Movers Brain Booster videos to choose from, teachers can be sure to find something for their KS1 or KS2 literacy and numeracy lessons.
The video-based, song and movement resources can be played on the classroom whiteboard and are linked to the UK curricula. The most popular video to date is the 2 x table with Chelsea Football Club mascot Bridget the Lioness.
They are designed to get children active and having fun whilst they learn. Super Movers resources are free and easy-to-use in the classroom with no need for children to get changed or for any additional equipment.
In a survey carried out for Super Movers by Loughborough University a majority of the 148 teachers surveyed said using Super Movers had a positive impact on children’s engagement with tasks.
Super Movers data suggest teachers mostly use Super Movers resources in the mornings, when the majority of literacy and numeracy lessons take place.
Super Movers videos can serve as a lesson starter, to consolidate learning at the end of a lesson or to lift flagging energy levels and get children back on task at any time.
